I'm going with FEARLESS. Not because I am without fear (who is?) but because I'm going to take some very big swings this year and to do that, I have to set fear aside...to go ahead without (or "less") the fear. Or perhaps, in spite of it... Thanks as always for your candidness.

Oh, Jennie, I'm so sorry. Ugh ugh ugh. I have learned so much from you & have always appreciated the modeling you've done re: intentional risk taking and dreaming and stepping into power. What a wonderful end of the year relief to receive that letter! May 2025 bring you & Author Accelerator all good things. xo

My word is resilience. It speaks to me of flexibility and persistence. If I could add a second word, it would be joy. You are an inspiration. All good things in 2025.

Oh, Jennie, I can’t tell you how grateful I am to you for sharing this. My story is almost identical except that it’s coming from an estranged family member. Like you, I can’t speak or write about it, which is killing me right now because I actually want to write a book about it for other women like me. I still have those 2 years and a lot of money ahead of me on the heels of my husband’s death, having to sell my house and an enormous move that nearly killed me. AND enrolling in the Author Accelerator course. It’s a lot! The words for the year I’m considering are: Stalwart, Impenetrable, Fierce, Steadfast, Lionhearted, and Fearless.

WOW those are some STRONG words, Karen!!!! I love it so much! LIONHEARTED!!!!! I hope you WILL write a book some day. And I am SO grateful that in the midst of it all you took a leap of faith in our program. I deeply hope that you will one day feel that it was a good move. And I wish you good luck in enduring ALL THE THINGS including the wait. You GOT this!!!!!

I have been thinking about the haters idea (and need for Teflon) since hearing you discuss it in the podcast. I think haters (and their cousins, doubters and cynics and people who wake up in the wrong side of the bed everyday) are INEVITABLE (1) in creative endeavors and (2) any effort to try to earn money in such endeavors. This is because there is so much doubt, fear and desire for approval baked into the creative process. When people see you in action, they immediately question whether they have the same abilities, drive and guts. Rather than visit their own dark places and work their way through, they PROJECT it all out to the person actually taking initiative. Rather than try to work out how one makes money, they decide that income is only possible through nefarious means. Success challenges others to question their own blocks to it, and many people are not ready for the challenge.

This is so true! It's so much about what coaching is about, isn't it??

Happy New Year to you and the boys Michael!

I've had my YES years and my NO years. Obvs getting certified by Author Accelerator was on a yes year. 2025 will be my GET IT DONE year (you heard it here first). So many things started and unfinished. I've been living in a half decorated house for 4 years...that's going to get done. I haven't bought a new car in 20 years! That's on the list. And then there's my book that keeps gnawing at me, but thanks to the fantastic Nita Collins I'm getting to the end of draft #2 soon. Thanks for the topic and inspiring us all to step up and step out!

Cheers to TEFLON for you Jennie! I've chosen TRANSITION to reflect multiple transitions in my life. I'm declaring my brand consultancy complete, wrapping it up in early 2025 and closing it; taking the Author Accelerator course starting mid-January, and hopefully getting certified to serve nonfiction authors; reducing my social media time and leaning into more time for in person visits with family and friends, connecting with them more often, and reading and writing more. It will be a lifestyle change on all these fronts and more.

Oh wow – I am so sorry to hear what you’ve been going through. I was first encouraged to develop “Teflon skin” during my Peace Corps training, ages and ages ago… my 22yo self thought it had more to do with learning how to use a machete and ward off marriage proposals! but it’s stuck with me ever since as a way to shield and bolster my thin skin. It is a powerful image and I LOVE this as a word for you moving into 2025. Jennie, you are a shining example and I’m grateful to have you as a role model. Thank YOU and happy New Year!

Mine is: RESURGENCE.

I've had tough few years. Kind of hiding (not my normal behaviour but has been) in many aspects of my life. Since the fall, slowly working with an Author Accelerator book coach. Yay!

Resurgence

Theme: "The Rise of Radiant Living"

Focus: A powerful comeback, overcoming challenges, and embracing life with vigor.

Motto: “Rise renewed, live resurgent.”

Narrative: Resurgence symbolizes not just recovery, but transformation—becoming stronger, more vibrant, and more aligned with your passions than ever before.
