Why subscribe?

My mission is to light the path to building a book coaching business that is satisfying, impactful, soulful, and sustainable. I speak to burned-out English teachers, exhausted freelance editors, writers who are not making enough money from their writing (yet), and book lovers who yearn to make a living from what they love. But I also happen to be talking about every facet of the creative process, so if you’re a writer serious about leveling up, you might find inspiration and advice for your journey, too.

I’ll be doing a Business of Book Coaching 101 series, FAQs, and book coach Q&As, among other things.

Subscribe to support my work — and once I figure out what subscribers want from this space, I will be adding features.

When I post.

I post (almost) every Friday and often om Tuesdays. Never miss an update—every new post is sent directly to your email inbox. (They tell me to say this: for a spam-free, ad-free reading experience, plus audio and community features, get the Substack app.)

You can also visit me at the #amwriting podcast and Substack.

I’m a (new!) co-host of the #amwriting podcast, and I post once every 5 weeks (and sometimes more) over on that Substack, which is amwriting.Substack.com My writing there is wholly focused on writing, especially my favorite topics: thinking before you write, writing with intention, and getting clear on your structure and your goals.

Here’s my official bio.

Here’s my unofficial bio.

I am going to turn 60 in 2024, and I am so grateful to have work that inspires me every single day and uses all my experience, wisdom, and talent. I’ve been a book coach since 2010 when I coached my first client, Lisa Cron, on the books Wired for Story and Story Genius. I’ve been running Author Accelerator since 2013 and as I write this in the waning days of 2023, we just certified our 200th coach — one of the proudest accomplishments of my life. I just became a grandmother, which is rocking my world in the best possible way. Here I am with Baby Lucy!
